Here's the trick-or-treaters! Aren't they cute??! Joey decided to be Darth Vader and Chris was Woody from Toy Story. They got TONS of candy... as well as playdough, stickers, drinking boxes and cash. Yes, cash! Lucky boys, and they even remembered their manners :)

Chris was tired so we went around the block and then came home. Joey still wanted to stay out, so Aunt Kim was brave and took him out again. As you can see, Chris got into the candy while Joey was trick-or-treating for the second time, and he was one happy little boy! Hopefully they are both really super tired and will sleep LATE tomorrow... doubt it, but I can always hope ;)

Here's two more pictures that I have to share. Our first snowfall was on Wednesday, but there really wasn't much of it. We woke up to the ground barely covered, but Chris was super excited! He put on his coat and when we went outside to go to daycare, he scooped up a mitten-ful of snow and said "Snow! Snack!" Oh well, I guess I'll just have to make sure he doesn't eat the yellow snow!

Too cute :) I know it was all about Chris tonight, but you really couldn't tell it was Joey in his Darth Vader costume. I don't think he cares that I didn't take many pictures of him... he was way too interested in all his loot!!!

I'm too tired to write anything tonight, but this is just too funny not to share. We received this email from Kathy and rather than hit forward, I decided to post it here for everyone. The last 2 are the very best ones! Enjoy!

UPS Airlines

Just in case you need a laugh: Remember, it takes a college degree to fly a plane, but only a high school diploma to fix one; a reassurance to those of us who fly routinely in our jobs. After every flight, UPS pilots fill out a form called a 'gripe sheet' which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight.

Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by UPS pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.

By the way, UPS is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an accident.

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit.
S: Something tightened in cockpit.

P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Auto pilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what friction locks are for.

P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny.
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.

And the best one for last:
P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.

Today is my mommy's birthday. She is 21 again. I've never been able to figure out how my mom and I are the same age... hehehe! So happy birthday mom - the kids will sing for you later!

Joey LOVED the hockey game yesterday! He came home and told me all about it, how the Kitchener Rangers won and it was awesome :) Its nice to see him excited about something other than video games or tv. Yay Joey!

Jay's foot is still horrible. The bruising is worse, the pain is apparently still the same and he still cant' put any weight on it at all. I really hope it gets better soon... this whole "looking after him" thing is getting really old already ;)

So, here it is.... isn't it gross! ew ;)

Friday, October 17, 2008

Well, I have lots to talk about tonight. If you don't plan on being here for a while, best to go now! If you start reading, you could be here for a while ;)

It all started yesterday. I went to the neurologist to find out what could be done about the disc in my back. After waiting forever, and the doctor coming out to tell the patients in the waiting room that she's "just not feeling so good, a cold and a fever, and that we had to be patient or we could wait another 6 months for another appt", I finally got into her office to be zapped. She checked my nerves and told me there was nothing wrong with my back - and that she has 2 discs in her back with bigger bulges than what I have. I really don't care about her back, its mine that I was there to see about. Anyways, all annoyances aside, my back will get better over time, but may come and go as I get older (yay for saying I'm getting old!). I have a pinched nerve in my left elbow so I've to keep it straight and not rest it on anything - in other words, be a zombie. And as for the spot on my brain.... its not even in the right place where you'd normally find MS lesions, and apparently everyone has these little things on their brain. So nothing to worry about. Yep, I left her office bruised up & down my arm and so enlightened and not worried about anything..... I just think she was maybe high on cold medications and didn't have a clue what she was doing ;)

So, I left the doctors office and headed for home. I was scheduled to be at the annual Remax administrators meeting yesterday and today, so I was going home to pick up my stuff and have Jason drive me back to work, so that my car wouldn't be sitting in the parking lot overnight. I get back to work and not even an hour later I get a phone call, right around 1:30, an hour and a half before I was due to leave. It was Jason calling to say that he thinks he may have broken his ankle. I told him I'd be right there to take him to the hospital, then remembered that I didn't have my car! Stef was kind enough to give me a ride home and we arrived home to find Jason sitting on the front step waiting for me. His ankle was swollen, blue and really gross looking. Took a bit for him to get to the car, but he got there using my snowbrush as a crutch. Interesting to watch :)

When we got the hospital, I went inside to get a wheelchair for Jason. That was a sight to see - me pushing Jason up the ramp! When we got inside, he got into triage right away. They took his shoe off and admired his purple toes and decided to take him right into emerg - I think it was because his feet were stinky and they thought it might make the patients in the waiting room pass out. So they told me to go fill in his paperwork and they'd take him back. I was surprised - a hospital trip to CMH is usually at least 6-10 hours, 5 1/2-9 1/2 of those hours spent in the waiting room! In the 10 minutes that it took me to fill in his paperwork, Jason was already in a bed, in a gown, had seen a doctor and was getting set up on an iv with morphine. Holy crap - service! I couldn't believe it. Nice to see though :)

Just in case you're wondering what I did the whole time Jason was being poked, prodded and needled - I did what any good wife would do. I lmao! Yep, thats right - I laughed my ass off and told the nurses to hurt him more :) I explained to them how Jason laughed at me when I was in labor with the kids so this was a great sight for me to see!!! I told them how at that time, I wished that he would get kidney stones so he would know what real pain was, but it never happened. They had a good laugh at that, and Jason agreed that he deserved it, but I don't think that they hurt him any more than they had too. To tell you the truth, I was really tempted to just walk past his foot and tap it a little, just to see how much it really hurt! Yep, I'm truly evil ;) Hehehe!

Anyways.... you're probably thinking enough rambling and get on with the story. Ok fine. So he was taken to x-ray and oh, here's another story! While we were waiting outside of the x-ray lab, another older patient walked over and sat down beside me. Looked me over. Asked me my name. I told him my name, he said it was a nice name, I was a nice looking girl, asked if I was a nice girl. Yep, can you say, FREAKY! So this guy went on to say that he was looking for a nice girl, and that Betty (no idea who she is!) told him that he needs a nice girl. Then he said "But you're a nice girl, and you're probably married.". To which I said, yes, and pointed to Jason laying there all doped up in the bed. The guy then backed off and started talking about how he looks after his mom and aunt and other stuff... looking back, I think he may have had a mental problem, and was just lonely, but at the time..... uuuugggghhhh!

Ok, the story goes on. So they took Jason into x-ray, I left to pick up the kids. Got the kids and took them to my mommy's. When I was getting ready to leave there, the phone rings and its Jason telling me that he's ready to go. Huh?!? Seriously? It was 4:30 and he had only been there 2 1/2 hrs?! So I packed the kids into the car again and off to hospital we go. Sure enough, there's Jason standing outside on crutches. Turns out that it wasn't broken - which shocked the doctors and nurses. The x-ray showed a bad sprain, ligament damage, a bone chip.... and we've been told that there may still be a hairline fracture there that they just can't see yet. If its not any better within 2 weeks, he's to go back for more x-rays to see if they can find anything else.

*Big sigh*. So, there was my Thursday. Needless to say, by the time we left the hospital it was too late for me to go to the administrators meeting. Sucks. I was looking forward to a night away and doing the seminars today. Instead I got to be home with a doped up dope on crutches ;)

I don't think I've mentioned how this whole thing came about, have I? Well, Jason was generous enough to offer one of our neighbours some of the gravel in the dogrun under our deck for his driveway. We keep our backyard locked up, so Jason removed the little wire window that is under the deck as a window for Farley. They loaded up the gravel and then Jason put the window back into place. So he is in the backyard and the other guy is standing in our driveway. Instead of opening the backdoor and going inside to get the key to unlock the back gate, Jason decided to go onto the deck and jump over the fence there to get onto the driveway. Ummm, hello.... its what, 10-12 feet??? And onto gravel???? Seriously, what did he think would happen?!?! Too funny :)

Jason was very apologetic about the fact that I missed the Remax meetings. But what could I do? I wasn't going to have him drugged up and looking after the kids, or trying to get them ready and out the door this morning. Besides, family comes first. But I really do still want to just kick at his ankle to see what will happen ;)

So there's my big long novel for tonight. Told you that you'd be here for a while, but I hope that it has at least given you a giggle :) Like I told Jason at the hospital, you have to look for the humour in everything, and there was tons to go around yesterday!

Ok, I think I'm done. I'll keep you posted on Jason and his foot - he describes it as looking like a bloated grotesque severed body part that was pulled out of a river on a CSI show! Imaginative :) He's supposed to take Joey to a hockey game tomorrow with Rene and his daughter, so we'll see how that goes ;)

Have a great weekend!!!

What a long week! I felt like the work week would never end..... thank god it did :) And now its a long weekend - yay!!! The weather is supposed to be sunny and nice, so I'm looking forward to getting the kids out and enjoying the last little bit of sunshine before the cold weather & s#%w hits.... yeah, that's a bad word!

Chris has been working on the whole potty training thing this week. He started on Tuesday with underwear all day and diapers only at sleeptime. Daycare are working with him and are being great. He's had a couple of accidents, and he refuses to poop in the potty! He'll eventually get it, I don't think he's completely ready for it yet, but we're working on it :)

Joey has a project to do for school. He has to pick a country and write about it. Mmmmm, wonder what country he'll choose?! Jason thinks he should choose Africa or something, but Joey gets to decide. I think it will be a lot of work for him, but I hope he enjoys it. He's doing well otherwise in school, getting all his words right on his weekly spelling tests. His writing is all of a sudden getting better :) He is finally realizing that if he slows down, he writes so much better and his work is awesome. Still doing GREAT with his reading - just like me, he loves books ;)

Jason was laid off last Friday, this time an indefinite layoff. This is a good thing though, as now he can go back to school. May not be until January, but this way he can get training in something other than manufacturing... we all know where that industry is headed right now. So this could actually work out :) We're looking on the bright side of things.

I don't think that I've mentioned this before, but back in August I went for an MRI. I've been getting a lot of weird tingly feelings in my arms & legs, and other weird stuff. The doctor wanted to do an MRI because she suspected MS. The results are finally in - I have some degenerative arthritis in my neck and a problem with one of the discs in my back. She's sending me to a neurologist to find out what can be done about the disc - physio or surgery. Preferably physio, but we'll see. They also found a tiny, tiny, tiny, 3mm "patch" on my brain and they have no clue what it is. I'll be having another MRI in a years time to see if it has grown, or if there are any more "patches", and hopefully then they will be able to tell me more. I'm just surprised that they even found a brain in there ;)

I'm pretty much done my Christmas shopping for the kids! I've never, ever been this prepared, but I figured with Jason being laid off that I didn't want to get stuck at Christmas time. I'm hoping that they'll like their gifts (who am I kidding? They'll love the stuff!) and that this will be their very best Christmas yet. I know it will be for me... Chris knows and understands what it is now, so he's very excited. Every time he sees something on tv he looks around and says "Ho Ho, me want that"! So cute!

Today is my dad's birthday. Chris called him tonight and sang his very own rendition of Happy Birthday and was quite understandable. We won't say how old he is, but happy birthday anyways dad!

All is quiet here now... the kids are both in bed, Jason's out at a friends place and I'm just about to start some laundry then watch a movie. Oooh, what a thrilling Friday night :) Have a great weekend and a very happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Welcome to the new & (hopefully!) improved Braniff Blog! I just realized that I've now had over 10,000 visitors to my site (yay me!), and wanted to change things up a bit, so here it is :) For those who loved Saturday Night Live back when it was good, I've added some words of wisdom with the Deep Thoughts. Let me know what you think... and such pretty colours :)

Its getting cold! I'm almost ready to turn on the heat, but that means that I'm admitting that summer is really over and I don't want to! But, I don't want to freeze our butts off, so soon I will turn on the heat, just not today :)

Our house isn't insulated at all, so when its cold, its REALLY cold in here. There were days last winter when we had our heat cranked all the way up and it was still freezing. So this past weekend we had someone from Retrofoam come in to explain how we can insulate this place. The exterior of our house has pebble-like stuff under the siding, so they can't do it from the outside. To do it inside means putting holes all over the walls that need to be done.... then redecorating to cover the holes. We're really debating on whether or not to do it because we don't want to freeze again this winter, but I don't want to redecorate the WHOLE house! Apparently there are governments grants that you can get if you do certain things to your home to make it more energy efficient, and insulating your home is one of them. If we do it, we qualify for up to $3000 back. The Retrofoam quote was $3400, so its only going to cost us $400. I think in the long run that its worth it, but we have to pay $300 to enter the government program first! Seems kinda crazy, but I think worth it in the long run. Something for us to think about and save up for :)

Seems scary to think about, but Joey is already planning his Christmas list! Doesn't help that I gave him the toys-r-us flyer this weekend and told him to circle the stuff that he likes :) But I'd rather be prepared this year and get stuff that the boys want, instead of the things that I see at the last minute just to fill up space under the tree. I've already started my shopping - and that's quite an achievement for me!!! But Joey is at an awkward age where I just don't know what to get him. He wants a Nintendo DS (his own, not my pink one!), and a bunch of little things. Chris is happy with pretty much anything! But Christmas shopping is definetly on my soon-to-do list! Yay!!!

Big news at work this week - we aquired 2 new offices in Orangeville and Shelburne today, which puts us up to 12 offices and almost 500 agents! I think we may be the largest Remax office in Canada now, but its not official... still trying to figure out the numbers. So excited :)

What else has been happening lately??? I just can't think right now. This week so far has been a blur, but tomorrow is Thursday and the workweek is almost over :)

So I'm gonna go and watch Cities of the Underworld (great show!) then the season premier of Private Practice. WOOHOO - fall tv is back!!!!

Slideshow!

Enjoy the pictures everyone :)
