Since I've been off on mat leave, I've learned lots of stuff... mainly how to be domestic! In the last 11 months, I have learned how to make spaghetti, I bake, I wash dishes by hand instead of in the dishwasher, and tons of other stuff. I've even learned to like spaghetti (lots of butter, parmesan cheese & salt, mmmmm!)! And my efforts haven't gone unnoticed....
The other day I made peanut butter cookies. It was a special treat for Joey's after school snack. When we got home and I gave him 2 cookies on a napkin and a glass of milk. The very first thing that Joey did was look at the bottom of the cookies.... and point out that they were black. But according to him, thats ok. Mommy's cookies are supposed to be black on the bottom.
Then there were the pancakes. Apparently Jason makes the best pancakes. Every Saturday Jason makes breakfast for everyone and Joey always wants pancakes. There have been smarties pancakes, peanut butter & chocolate pancakes, banana pancakes, and strawberry banana syrup pancakes. When Jason was away hunting, Joey still wanted pancakes... and mommy had to make them. Even before I started making them, Joey said "its ok if they're black, I'll still eat them!" He knows just what mommy's cooking is like.
Its not all bad, or burned. This week I decided to make honey garlic pork from scratch. It actually turned out quite good - although next time I'll add more honey & garlic! I even figured out that if you cook stuff at a lower temperature for a little bit longer, it usually works out! Wow, 30 years old and just figuring this crap out! Yay for me!
In other news, Joey loved the parade yesterday! His favourite part was seeing the Dave FM truck and at the very end, when he got to see Santa. Everyone came back here cold and hungry, but happy! Then the boys played "Cars" on the playstation and had fun watching Joey play the Tractor Tipping game. Once Joey settled down, he finally went to bed, and didn't get up once - he was completely wiped out! I wish there was a parade every weekend!!!
So thats it, that's all I have to say today... maybe I'll have more tonight. Bye!
P.S. Here's a question for you: When are you putting up your christmas tree? Or is it too early to think about that already!?!

since your husband already shot rudolf maybe there won't be a christmas
when you say your cooking has not gone unnoticed do you mean you have gainned that much weight?
You know if you put two black cookies together you can have hockey puchs for the maple leafs, cause they are so crummy
Your cooking beats mine anyday Mel :) My xmas tree used to consist of 8-9 (empty) 12-packs of Canadian, wrapped in lights with some tin foil on the top :) Since I don't drink much at all these days, it'll prolly be a pepsi-tree or the likes.
:)
btw: Anonymous.... This is the 90's now dude... Santa rides the eSled now, he don't need no stinkin' deer!
Hate to disappoint you anonymous, but it wasn't Rudolph... it was Bambi.
I'll pretend that you didn't make the comment on the Leaf's, Tom. I know that being a Canadiens fan screws up your mind, so I'll let it go :)
Kev, your tree sounds cool! You gonna start getting it ready now??? It might actually be a little more baby friendly than our glass ornaments are... so you want Chris till the season's over?!
